📝 Why Raising My Own Puppies Matters So Much | Boise Doodle Co

You know what blows my mind?
The fact that not all breeders actually raise their own puppies. 🤯

I mean, really.
Some breeders are basically just project managers.
They'll pair a mom and dad dog, then send the pregnant female off to a guardian home.
The puppies are born and raised somewhere else. Maybe the breeder swings by now and then for a quick visit or a few pictures. Maybe they just get updates over video chat.

That's it.

And honestly... I can't relate. At all.

Why I Have My Hands on Every Single Puppy, Every Single Day

At Boise Doodle Co, every puppy is raised in my home.
Every day.
By me.

Not just popped in on once a week.
Not checked in through a screen.
Not supervised from a distance.

I’m talking full-on, messy, real-life raising:

  • Snuggles

  • Training

  • Early problem solving

  • Watching quirks unfold

  • Noticing who’s bold, who’s laid-back, who’s mischievous

And yes — even cleaning up the 3 a.m. puppy chaos when it happens. 😂

Because when you buy a puppy from me, you’re not just buying a fluffy face.
You’re trusting me to help shape your future family member.

And that’s something I take seriously.

What "Hands-On" Puppy Raising Actually Looks Like

Even producing over 10 litters a year, I stay true to this commitment:
✅ I personally raise every litter in my home.
✅ I personally work with each puppy, every day.
✅ I watch, love, guide, and train them myself — no outsourcing.

Now, don't get me wrong — I do use guardian homes for some of my adult dogs.
(That’s actually a smart way to make sure my breeding dogs get spoiled and loved on individually.)

BUT — I don’t raise litters in guardian homes.
Never have, never will.

Because here's the deal:
I need to know my dogs inside and out to make the right breeding choices — not just based on how pretty they are, but based on their true selves:

  • Temperament

  • Confidence

  • Trainability

  • Quirks that either make them better family companions… or that tell me we need to adjust.

It's Not Just About Cute Puppies — It's About WHO They Are

"You’re not just buying a puppy.
You’re trusting someone to shape your future family member."Breeding isn’t just about producing the cutest doodle puppies in Boise, Idaho (even though, let’s be honest — ours are pretty darn adorable). 🐾❤️

It’s about raising incredible companions who will be loved for 10-15+ years.

It’s about intentionally shaping early experiences so puppies grow up confident, social, and ready to thrive in family life.

It’s about understanding them at their core — before they ever leave my home and leap into your arms.

You should expect that from any breeder you're trusting to raise your future family member.

Questions You Should Be Asking Any Breeder

When you’re interviewing breeders (and yes — you SHOULD interview them like it’s a job interview for the most important position ever), here are a few things to ask:

  • Where are your puppies born and raised?

  • Who handles them daily?

  • Are they raised in your home or somewhere else?

  • How do you socialize them?

Because trust me — the answers matter.

If a breeder has barely had their hands on your puppy during those critical early weeks...
That's a pretty big red flag 🚩 — at least for me.

Why I Do It Differently

At Boise Doodle Co, our puppies are raised in a real home, with real life experiences, real sounds, real love, and real structure.

They’re raised by me — not by a stranger down the road.

And when you finally meet your puppy?
You’ll feel the difference.

They’ve been seen.
They’ve been loved.
They’ve been prepared for you.

You Get to Choose

There are a lot of breeders out there.
Some raise fantastic puppies — even if they do it differently than I do.
But you get to choose what matters most to you.

If hands-on raising, daily love, intentional socialization, and real breeder involvement matters to you?
You’re in the right place.

Ready to meet your future best friend — raised with heart, hands, and purpose? 🐾❤️
